What jojoba oil is, how it is traditionally used, what published studies show and where they fall short, how to use it safely, and which GraceYes products contain it.

What it is

A liquid wax from the seed of a North American desert shrub. It is about 98% wax esters and resists going rancid. It is not part of Indian tradition.

What studies show

  • A review describes anti-inflammatory and wound-healing activity, mostly preclinical (PubMed).
  • A clay-and-jojoba mask was followed by a 54% drop in acne lesions over 6 weeks. The study had no control group (PubMed).

Safety

Very well tolerated. Allergy is rare.
